I was casually looking to add a M3 to my collection when I happened upon this one on ebay today. Price seemed to good to be true for the camera alone let with a collapsible summicron 50mm. Pulled the Buy it Now trigger before it got wisked from me. A bit nervous since I didn't get to ask the seller any questions but he seems to have a good reputation. It will likely need a CLA. t think I got a good deal. Any thoughts?

M3DS (Ex+/ex++) + 50mm coll. Summicron (VG) $700
Camera CLA approx. $175
Lens CLA + front element repolish $150

Total = $1025 + S&H

Sorry, not a good deal in my view.

Depending on the condition of the lens I figured I could resell it for $300-400 so then I would have the M3 for less than $400 plus CLA.

If it comes as described, then it's a great deal IMHO.

I had a Summicron once which had a very noticeably scuffed front element, still took fine photos. Get the M3 serviced, but the lens is likely OK.

Well i think it was a lousy buy and taking pics of hot half/naked girls is not a good idea either...ya knuckle head 🙄

I think you did well.

collapsible summicrons seem to have doubled in price in the last few years. Try a few shots with the setup, the lens is probably fine.

Internal haze on a Summicron is not hard to clean out: usually it is on each side of the aperture. The lens simple unscrews at that point . BUT: be very careful not to turn the lens upside down or use compressed air. The Blades will fall out.

It's a very good price, consider the lens as a freebie.
I wouldn't spend the $$$ to have the lens repolished unless it was a real prime example cosmetically. Getting the haze out is pretty simple DIY job.
