Greetings, hope I find everyone well.

Before spend a fair amount of money and sending this lens away to Leica for a three to six month holiday, I like to know if I can fix this myself.

My 35mm Summicron ASPH has developed a problem. It seems this effects both this lens and the Summicron 28mm f/2 ASPH version 5 MK1. The front filter thread bezel has come lose.

As you can see from the images, the aperture mark moves and indeed I found if your not careful the bezel will completely rotate when removing a filter. It is very annoying as I have never fitted a filter on the front of this lens to tightly neither. With the Leica hood fitted, it gets even worse. Although a clip on hood, in use I find the hood moves and if your not careful it causes minor vignetting.

Does anyone have any idea if this lens issue can fixed at home or something only Leica can cure?

One reason I've asked, is searching around the web there is some suggestion this part might be only glued.

Cheers, MNS.

MNS, you piqued my interest in the 35mm Summicron ASPH in my name plate thread and I stumbled upon this.

Did you happen to see mikeno62's videos on the Summicron ASPH and loose screws? It didn't answer my nameplate question, but it might be useful for yours if you're daring.
