Is your Canon 7's shutter crinkled ?

The main thing that's putting me off buying a 7 has been sellers' comments that the shutter has "the usual crinkles" or words to that effect. Sometimes accompanied by an assurance that it is of little or no consequence.

Has it been proven that it doesn't really matter ? Should I abandon the idea of buying a 7 ? And perhaps go for a Nikon S2 - even though they won't take an L39 lens 😉

If you are one of the lucky people owning both , what is your advice ?

It really doesn't matter. I had a 7 with crinkled shutter and it was fine...

I've owned a P and a 7 with wrinkled shutters. Neither gave me any problems..

I had one of those rare ones with no crinkling, although there was a trace of oil on the shutter. The body wasn't mint though, looked to have been used at least a bit. They're very nice cameras.

Thanks for the reassurance Guys, will go ahead and buy one now.

I too had one with smooth curtains....used - but obviously not much!

I have almost never seen a shutter in one of these cameras that does not have some wrinkles but these seldom create problems - unless you object strongly to the look that is. Functionally though they seem to work OK. I too would prefer one that is pristine but it seldom happens that they turn up.

As long as this is turning into a 7 ugliness thread--there was a black-repainted de-metered 7 floating around here for a while...I owned it for about 6 months. I sold it not because it was ugly but because it was large. I liked it, though. I think Canon should have offered a meterless version:
