iso 800 color neg?

i think fuji press 800 and the superia 800 are the same film...or was that press 1600 and superia 1600?
i do know that if you're evaluating films based on minilab prints there can be a big variance in color reproduction form lab to lab based on paper and machine used.

i'll probably make the trek to trader jim's. they have a good rep for doing both fuji and kodak.

ok, time to reconsider. i just found some pics of the pancake ii wide open at pgallery.net, and there's definite ni-sen bokeh. pretty much like the 35 'cron, which has a head start in smoothing out by stopping down. it's also good for sharpness and contrast. now the 'lux enters the picture. could get either of those and still use iso 800 as standard.

This sounds like you under-exposed the film. SYmptoms are excessive grain and muddy colors. Why don't you try another roll , but bracket your exposures?

Here's a couple of examples of 35mm NPZ800 shot at EI500, Leica M2 with 50mm Skopar... The second is a 100%-scale crop of the same scan. FWIW, this was printed for Print Swap II and looked great at 11x14.
