I have been wondering if my lens mis-focuses. I run tests and it seems to be spot on sometimes, but then other times, it is not.
I found out something today, though. When the lens is set to the closest focus, the RF patch does not move until after a bit of movement. It behaves like a Zeiss lens that has a close focus of .5m.
It behaves the same way on my M6 and M240. My other Leica lenses do not do this. When I start to turn the focus ring (from close focus), the RF patch begins to move immediately.
Can someone check their 35mm ASPH to see if theirs behaves as mine?
If my lens needs service, should I send camera and lens? Just lens?
To whom? DAG, Leica, a local shop?
Thanks

I just tested my 35mm Summicron ASPH on my M240 and it does have a a bit of slop before the rangefinder shows movement when I focus at the closest distance. I never take pics when focused at two feet, so can't comment on any effects on image quality.

I did take a bunch of engagement photos last week and used this lens on my M240. Many shots were wide-open, and all are properly focused, for what it's worth.

Do any of your other lenses focus to the same min dist....?
I have a body where the min dist was set for 0.9m I get the same affect as you for lenses with a min dist of 0.7m
