Hello all.
I got a problem with my M9 and Voigtlander 50 f1.1
For some reason I cannot get the lens to mount correctly. It over mounts. The M9's mounting button catch thing is not catching. I am guessing that the catch hole on the lens is a hair too small and the camera is not able to engage the hole. 4 other lenses I have here, one Leica, one old Leica 50 3.5 in a Voigtlander adapter and two Zeiss lenses mount fine.
I am pondering using a fine jewelers file to just brush the side of the mounting hole on the lens to see if I can open it up a bit. Bad idea?

I got bored of waiting for a reply so I went ahead and did it. Thank goodness the mount is brass and not stainless steel or I would have been at it for a while. Now everything works dandy.

I'm not sure I would have figured that out. Good for you. Poor QC by CV.

Hi there,
cool, I'm always in for some DIY repair like that. I hope you made sure that none of the metal dust went someplace where it didn't belong...

Good to hear you've got it straightened out.
The tolerances are very tight to make the precise fit needed for an RF camera and focusing accuracy. Good thing it was a tiny bit undersized, oversized means send it back for another.
Seen this with various lenses over the years. Not common, but it happens..

Well done for doing it yourself. It shows how easy some things can be with a little application and common sense! Know your limits but explore them as well, it can't be bad.
