it has arrived :)

A Sonnar will look really nice on an M3.

I am with Oscar, I have to know more. Does it work?

not a problem, Todd.. I expect to release it on dvd as soon as I work out the licensing agreement with Scorsese

details on the package contents will be released on January 18.. stay tuned for more information

Okay I am totally lost now. BTW, Jan 18 was 7 days ago?

here's one head-on

I shot a half roll of film with the combo earlier today.. I'll be heading to the one-hour photo lab in a few minutes to see the results

(oh, and that's the black lizard cover from cameraleather.com)

Ah... the final solution thing. That was a long and painful thread on PN.

Oooh. Is it RF coupled?

yep, it's RF coupled.. altho the Sonnar has extremely stiff focusing on the M3.. you don't notice that at all on a Contax because of the internal focusing helical.. and I really miss the focusing tab that my Summicron has

well, I'm off to the photo lab.. I'll upload the test shots when I get back

Heck, it was a long and painful thread here too! :bang:

Maybe I'm missing something here about the magic of a CZ 50/1.5 Sonnar, but wouldn't a LTM 50/1.4 Nikkor do as well or BETTER for a lot less aggrevation and far fewer bucks when you consider the cost of one of those adapters?

The adaptor prices have fallen a little, I have seen a few sell recently in the $200 range.

The insight about the stiff focusing and missing the infinity lock are pretty pertinent I think. I too generally like the infinity locks on my lenses too.

I use the incompatibility between the Zeiss Sonnar lenses and my screw and M bodies as a reason to have Kiev and Contax camera bodies. Variety is the spice of life, and indulging in this (camera) variety is easier on marriages than the other kind.

alright.. here are the results of my 5 minute photo shoot today.. unfortunately, I managed to shoot nearly all the shots toward the minimum focusing distance.. but from what I can see so far, the RF-coupling is very good.. I'll have to do more testing toward infinity.. but so far I'm very happy

the scans were done on my Coolscan V with no ICE or sharpening.. nothing was done in PS except resizing

Looks like the focus is spot on, I wanted one of these for my sonnar before I sold it and my IIa but at the time they were "cost prohibtive" :).

Very sharp indeed - I like those pine needles!

Hey, do you still use that "chimney" smoker. We gave ours away - found out it was too hot for "smokin'"

I use the smoker just a few times a year.. never for smoking, tho.. just for grilling steaks, chicken, etc.. it was a lot cheaper than a Weber and didn't have time to shop around when I bought it.. works fairly well, but yeah you gotta be careful cuz they can get really hot

Well, Brett... congratulations! And by the way, that M3 of yours looks positively beautiful.
