.... it seems I have bought an M5...

I got one recently too. I find it fits in the hands very well. Mine's a real user but had just been serviced and came with a brand new tulip ( take up spool) I think it's the easiest to load film of all the M's

Upon closer inspection I found that the take up spool of my new M5 could be removed. At first sight it looks like a regular tulip take up spool, but if you hold the camera down a central part falls down which can then be used to pull the spool out. I never heard that the M5's had removable spools. Is this normal or is mine fitted with a special spool? It makes loading even easier than my M4s.

I did it again last night. It's a chrome m5.

Congratulations RoundG! I can imagine why you wanted a chrome one also! I've always fancied chrome Leicas more than black ones.

See my last reply above. Does your black M5 have a removable take up spool?

Dear Huubl,

Thanks. Yes, I always want a Chrome M5. Regarding the taking up spool, I never pay attention to it as I thought it's non-removable in all M5. Maybe I can check my M5 next week after finishing this whole week training.

Dear HuubL,

I checked my M5 today and can't figure out how to remove the take up spool. Maybe yours is a special/modified version.

and I do think all M5 should have a big lens.

Wow, Huubl, that's a gorgeous looking camera... I am very impressed. I like M5 as much as anyone here, but my preference always leaned towards the black. Yours makes one hesitate... :)
