A bit of literature for you folks.

This short story (by the Italian author, Italo Calvino) interested me greatly when I first took up photography in my late teens. I have gone back to read it many times since.

It seems to parralell many of the subjects discussed within the RFF's pages.

Hope you enjoy it.

Bob.

It's a great short story - one of my two favourites related to photography - and the ending bears an uncanny resemblance to the state of affairs in photography these days. Calvino would be amused, I think.

The original link has gone dead after all these years so here's a working one: http://beauty.gmu.edu/AVT459/AVT459-001/Calvino.pdf

and a succint review: http://aperture.org/blog/redux-italo-calvinos-the-adventure-of-a-photographer/

(Apologies for the thread necromancy and thanks to that eight y.o. time-slice of Bobfrance for first posting the thread.)

Thanks. Never knew of it. Scary. I swear there's no stain on the wall here, and I only buy the newspaper at the weekend. But on Saturday I did happen to photograph a photograph. And it was of a car wreck.
