for the second time in my life i have sold my complete darkroom.
first time was about a hundred years ago when i had decided that i was only going to shoot chrome.
that actually lasted a few years and i bought it all back again.
this time i realized i had not made a print in years and what i did show was all on the net.
time for a better printer.
i have an ancient canon bubble jet that is supposed to print photos but i have never tried it.
this fall i will do the research and buy a printer, maybe.
but for now, there is a large empty space in my...basement. (you thought i was gonna say heart, didin't ya?)

Now you have plenty of space to stock up on focusing fluid, especially those from France but don't forget South Africa, Australia, California and other, very good wine producing regions.

Hmm, I'm doing exactly the opposite. For the second time in my life I'm slowly acquiring the necessaries for a darkroom. Didn't sell the first one, just moved from one continent to another.

Yeah Backalley, why go to all the trouble of finding the right chemicals, mixing them, spool films in a dark room, figure out gradations, do test prints, wash prints for any lenght of time ... if you can do a similar sort of thing by just pressing a button or moving your mouse....
... why take pictures at all .. you must be able to receive at least 2001 digital channels on your TV
... Why eat fresh food if you can buy Microwave grade supper packets...
... why communicate face to face if you can chat on internet
The last Halm would be changing your film for these funny little contaptions that can hold over 2000 pictures in one go...
Why have any sort of pleasure or fun if one can automate .... Get yourself a little grain-maker package and of you go ... all set for the nest millenium

Joe,
Are you shooting C-41 B&W only now? If you are shooting conventional B&W are you having some one else develop the film?

i'm concentrating on tri-x for now, souped in rodinal or ddx.
if i have the nerve to try my bulk loader for the first time, i'm gonna load in some pan f.
i have a fridge full of xp2 that i will slowly continue to use also.
for now, i have left the printing stage of the process. it wont be felt much as i have not printed in years.

joe,
I don't know why anyone jumped to the conclusion that you were switching exclusively to digital. I'm sure there are lots of us who don't have a home darkroom but shoot film.
