It's official. I've been a lurker, dreaming of working with an RF to see if I can get into its groove. Well, after sitting in my shelf for a while since my sister in law gave me this second hand store find, I took it in to the local shop and had it rehabed. The shutter was locked up, needed some meter work, and a general cleaning. I've shot near a full roll on my way back from the shop and this thing is as watch-like as it gets, small, precise, quiet. I love it so far!! I should have some picks to scan and post by Monday.

Welcome to RFF then! Hope you like that camera. I don't think I have ever heard anything but praise from RFF members that have used one.

35 RD is an amazing camera, seriously better than the Cron 40/2 IMO.
I just fixed one up and sold it to a member here on RFF, a bit of me inside hope he returns it !! but, have my other gear to subside me.
Love the lens, manual override, viewfinder, size, everything.

Congratulations on the new camera. Although I'm happy with my RC, I've always lusted after an RD.
You're also fortunate to have found someone local who could fix it up for you.

BV

Welcome to RFF, rangefinders are great. My only Olympus have been the OM-10's which were a joy to use. I have been using Argus and Yashica's for years. Enjoy the camera and have fun.

I'm having a rough start. First roll was fine but fogged so not a good representation of what this camera will do. Part way into the second roll the focus ring started slipping. Took it back to the repairman. He did what repairmen do and the next day all seemed well. Six frames in, slipping again. Has anyone heard of this problem and know of anyone who sucessfully fixed it? I really want to get this little guy operational (but at reasonable cost).

The 35RD's been in and out of the shop a couple times to dial in the focus ring from slipping. Final time tech said he changed a part. Focus seems good. It's a little tight for my taste but at least its working! I'm currently in Mexico D.F. and the tech had it in and out same day so I could bring it with me. I'm still working at not messing up my exposure settings (iso etc). At 200 iso, there isn't alot of latitude for different exp combinations. Thinking already I'm going to get some ND filters. If all goes well, photos from DF upon my return.

I'm rolling now. Here are a taste of my Mexico City weekend with the 35RD. My repair guy came thru!! Meter seems slightly off but I'll sort that out in due time.
Think I missed focus on this one.
Always wanted to get a "Kissing Lovers Street Shot". Not easy in the US, but fish in a barrel in D.F.
