my cv 25/4 p lens finally showed up today. it was in limbo (according to the tracking) for about 4 days.
and it's so cute! i am amazed at how small and precise these cv lenses are.
what a perfect fit for the r4m also. i may be in the minority with not panting for fast lenses but these 3.5 and f4 lenses work great outdoors and that's where most of my shooting takes place. and the f2 and 2.8 lenses do great indoors with a good 400 speed film.

i was hoping to do some side by side shots with the zm 25 and cv 25 but my cv lens arrived without a hood and i'm not sure if it would be a fair fight.
of course i guess i could shoot both w/o hoods, duh!

i have said it before and i'll repeat it again, the r4 cameras and these small lenses are perfect for a small, light kit, even with 6 lenses there is still room in the small f6 domke bag.

i could not be more pleased.

I aim on being "pleased" myself by summers end. It means another lens system but I want a RF with aperture priority.....

Congrats Joe. I am using the Leica 24 on my R4 and it is BIG, especially with the hood. I think my favorite lens on that camera so far is the 28 with that single frameline. 🙂

I find my 25 (the old version) is very resistent to flare. The hood on the old one is almost not there. The new one looks SOOOOO good.

I wish Pres K would come out with a L2A & M. I could justify spending some money and going completely M (well not completely, there still is that wonderful S2 system).

joe, i am glad you are pleased. for the next while, I am still in the winter of discontent lens-wise. as I lack the zm 35/2, you have what i want😉 btw, did you buy your zm lenses in canada or from popflash, etc?

all are from popflash.
the hex 90 i got locally at mcbain camera.

all the cv gear from cameraquest.
the 40 rokkor from a member here.

the zm 35 is a great lens as are the others zm lenses i have.
these 2 systems compliment each other well, either mix and match or as completely seperate kits.

Joe,
Congrats! Can't wait for your post with results on how these 2 lenses compare. I'll be getting one of them for sure, just can't decide which yet.
I'll wait for what you have to say on this subject. Don't forget to say a few things about how each handles, feels, etc. And photos, photos, photos!!!!!
Thanks in advance.

You have two 25s! 😕

Well... I have two 35s, but never tested them against each other. They're still pretty different (one's a Konica Hexanon and the other a 'lux).

In any case, I can understand the cuteness of a lens, and therefore want to extend my congratulations on your purchase and the happiness it has brought to you. Have a very nice day! 😀

(sorry, joe, I just feel like speaking this way today... have been reading too much legalese lately!)

thanks guys.

we have a long weekend coming up and i plan to shoot the zm on the zi and cv on the r4m, nothing too fancy but side by side shots of people and places etc.

francisco, i also seem to have two 35mm lenses as well, maybe i'll do a similar 'test' with them also.

Well... I just packed my Hexanon along with my 'lux for my trip to Germany. I'll tell you if I manage to test them.

Still, Joe, I really envy that ability you have to keep the enthusiasm alive. At this point, I feel a bit jaded (yes, believe me). Probably because of the steady SLR diet I had in Costa Rica. And that F100 is heavy! 😱 I just compared my bags, the one with the Nikon AF gear weighs 18 pounds (I know it 'cuz I put in in a balance in the airport); the one with the Leica stuff is about half as much.

In any case, congratulations again on the twins! 🙂
