nothing big really, lately i have been editing my gear, sold the bessa kit, the kiev kit, an oly 35 rc and a few other bits.
i now have the canons only, with canon lenses (only).
it feels...more free, for some strange reason.
i know i was really impacted when brian called me a collector. it must be some sort of inner bias cause i'm not consciously aware of negative feelings towards collectors in general.
i sent off the metrastar for repair and that feels good. i like the feel of that meter.
i just ordered 2 mini soft releases from cq. the original p came with one and after trying others i've decided that one feels best under my finger.
ordered that 100/3.5 from sherry krauter, sent off the $$ yesterday. i'm looking forward to a summer of shooting with that and some of my other lenses.
i'm waiting for my other grip for the second p. that grip makes the camera feel light as a feather and a sheer pleasure to hold.
now, to find a nice 50/1.9 collapsible for a 'reasonable' price.
anyway, i'm feelin' good and wanted to share.
how about you guys?
what's new and exciting?

Joe,
Simplifying your camera arsnel is a good move. I can't bring myself to take that hard decision and the result is that I really haven't fully learned the full capacity of any of my cameras. I recall that Leonard Bernstein was criticized for being so good at so many things to which he devoted time that he failed to be come "great." A lesson.....although I would like to become even nearly as good as he was at anything!

New and exciting? Found a 10-15 y old roll of BW neg, never enlarged but developed, at my parents' place. Waiting right now for the lab for some enlargements. Highschool pics, exciting indeed.
I have also found some photos i made while in first grade of highschool; will post here a few. 14 years old pics. First one is myself when I was fifteen-ish, with the bike.
All these taken with an old cheap russian viewfinder (Smena 8M)...no rf, sorry.

On ebay do a search in all of Camera & Photo Gear (whatever the braodest category is) for Serenar. There are quite a few 50/1.9s available right now. You will find one for the "right" price shortly I am sure.

rover, i did a search and found 3 but they are all attached to cameras.
i'm not sure why but my computer has a hard time with ebay.
when i do a search, i usually have to try a few times before not getting a 'cannot display' page.
and it never remembers my sign in, i need to sign in most every time i visit there.

New? Got my Easter package from Stephen Gandy and a Summaron 3.5/35 and a second collapsible Summicron-M 2/50. Exciting? This cute Summaron. A really tiny lens. Can't await the weekend to take some shots with it...
Hmmm, I have been coming across them in the past few weeks since Frank got his. I swear there were a few (2 or 3) listed when I looked last night. I wasn't paying attention, I wonder if they all closed in the past 18 hours or so?
They have been around, so I am sure more will pop up.

this is my true disease!
but, in my defense, i did just sell the domke!
and that m-classic bag looks like it would work perfect with my 'style' of shooting.
i don't really need a well padded bag but rather something that is easy to carry and to pull a camera out of.
if i don't like it i'll offer it to you first ralph.
interestingly, it's coming form new york...

What's new? I've achieved temporary equilibrium... I don't need anything more for my R kit, and I've decided to forego the purchase of an 8x10 kit right now. I badly, badly WANT an 8x10, but now is not the time for me to be making such an investment.
And, I'm gearing up for motorcycle season!

ah yes, the battle of need vs want.
i used to ride motorcycle.
i started with a little suzuki gs 400. i must have looked silly on that little bike.
then, i moved on to a hinda silverwing. did a lot of travelling on that. back & forth to vancouver a few times (long distance dating, what a pain) and then a major trip through the states to n.y.c. and back. what an adventure that was.
also had a honda custom 900 for a bit. gave it to my ex.
ah spring...

It is indeed my first rangefinder of any kind other than my M6. The "daily user" thread got me going, I don't actually have a daily user and I would really like to be able to bring a camera with me everywhere. Also I don't have a 40mm lens so this will give me some perspective with that focal length. However the main reward is that I will have a camera that if it gets lost or stolen won't cause major angst and I'm really interested in the images I can make with it. For <$40 it should give me a lot of fun without a huge siphoning of dough from my slowly accumulating M7 fund!backalley photo said:also very cool. if it's your first, i predict you will be pleased and carry it everywhere. if it's not the first then you already know what a nice camera it is.

My M5s need red dots!
Good things? Some, recently...
Last week, my silver M6TTL came back from New Jersey, fully refurbished, virtually new, and inside a coquettish velvet pouch.
Also, my whimsical purchase, a Leica-meter MR, came back from QLM completely restored. During the weekend my GAS got so bad I placed some bids on M2s and M3 bodies. In fact, I lost one nice M3 for some $60.
I was relieved... But the strange obsession for a meterless body and a collapsible lens has been hard to fight. All on account of my having bought a Leica meter.
However, I think I'll see to sell it to finance some glass, and forget about the meterless Leica. With my current combo of 35/50/90 I'm more than happy, and only feel a weird impulse to get a 135/f2.8 just for the sheer pleasure of using a fast telephoto.
But, all in all, I'm in peace with the universe again. And my work is coming along nicely too!

I forgot something!
Big film reorganization. I have 20 rolls of Ektachrome ISO 400 coming sometime this week, so I had to pick a few rolls to "burn" so as to have storage room for the "new-old film stock."
At $20 + 4.00 shipping, it was a bargain...
