Ive and Newson Leica Virgin One of a Kind design

Hopefully it will sell for much more than the total development & manufacturing costs that Leica threw into it. Otherwise it would have made more sense for Leica just to donate that amount of cash to the charity and keep their M-production line running without interruption.

The 'one of a kind' Leica in my eyes is pretty grim looking, but I like the Braun one.

Roger has invented the perfect word for it, Egonomics.

Leica seems to have endless resources for producing cameras that divide opinion. Roger has nailed it with the term egonomics as thegman pointed out.

Surely the money would have been better spent offering early morning baloon flights to the socially disadvantaged or something equally meaningless.

It’s set to go up on the blog at the (RED) auction at Sotheby’s New York on November 23rd, with funds going to The Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.

The only redeeming factor in this whole exercise!

He missed a trick - not copying the Werra's lens hood/lens cover

cool, it might hit shops on 2015, hopefully, judging from their efficiency on delivering actual production models around the globe.

I suppose we can all sneeze all we want about the looks (which I think might be growing on me :p ).
Hell…. I would shoot the lights out with that thing.
Big Fat Cmos and a RF focused Apo Summicron 50mm.

Cover it in tape and used chewing gum if you must! :D

Actually, the look is something I thought a modernized M might look like...smoothed out, but same basic silhouette.

The only problem I see, from a shooter's perspective, is the inability to use the controls with gloves on or in the dark, somewhat limiting it's actual "professional usability." It'll work as a dilettante camera, but it'd be tough to be fast with it unless the light isn't changing and you shoot everything hyperfocally.

Beautifully phrased! Thank you!

EDIT: Of course, your post could be taken as ironic. But of course that's the point. Any "profession" that is incapable of considering itself as a "trade" is a bit too far up its own bum for my taste.

Cheers,

R.

Inverse snobbery is still snobbery.
