Could the MP body be adapted to allow using IXMOO's?
(the baseplate is not really an issue)
And since it seems I missed it:
Happy birthday Tom!

MIchael, are you trying to see if anything has changed since the last time you asked?
Follow up on IXMOO in MP
It would be great if they could fit. Could the cassette chamber be reamed out enough to make one fit?
Of course, the most difficult thing to overcome is obtaining a good supply of IXMOO in the first place. I have one so far.

Everything is possible - but in this case the cost would be high. Reaming out the chamber would be a major undertaking and would require some serious work. Better choice would be an older M6 as it can take the IXMOO without problem. The IXMOO's are out there - but you have to ask around. I picked yet another 4 while in Stockholm last week. Still short a couple to load 1200 ft of XX - but slowly and surely they show up.

My brain is loosing it...
Well, I could always pretend that I wanted to know if there was anything new on this front, but truth is I forgot about this old thread.
At least we now know that in 4 years Tom have upgraded his bulk loading abilities by 200 feet

Tom, I'm using an older baseplate with my TTL, and it seems to be working fine. Just 10 IXMOO in my bag however, so I've got a long way to go!

I just poked around on ebay and found another 5 for $25.
That brings my total to 20...enough for 100ft film!

Had a look in my MP.
"They" definitely changed the shape of the film chamber.
the corner that was allowing the cassette spring area to pass is now "full".
Changing it would need a major dismantling work and machining.
I do like when stuff is "standardized" but it looks like using an MP along an M2 will require going around with two types of film.
If I had hundreds of IXMOO though, I know a repairman in Madison WI that would been asked a very strange request on my MP...

Could you peovide any details on the conversion to use Nikon cassettes? I have a few laying around, but no IXMOO. Ide be willing to try this on my M4-2.

Nikon cassette has a tab to lock it in the body so it does not turn while opening it. The body has to be notched for the tab. The hole has to be covered with strip of leather, so it does not leak light. The opening mechanism is straightforward. Just look at Nikon F and you get an idea how it should look. But maybe you don`t want to "destroy" your body for the notch...
