Just bought a couple of these cheap to have a play with, I usually use the Barfen plastic ones but though as I now have a n M3 I ought to do it 'properly'.
So anyone else roll their own into these old relics?

I have a konica Hi-Loader, similar to this:
and an old Lloyd's Daylight loader like:
So I'm hoping one of them will be happy with the ixmoo carts

These are very good.
Their only drawback may be their weight (they add to your bag, and they add to the camera weight)
I would love to find a few more for reasonable price (you might think they're made of gold if you look on ebay)

Mine are rolled by hand as well.
I have 40 IXMOO's and 5 KASAM's and they all get regular use.
FED cassettes I have 3 and they are just gathering dust. My son shoots the FED-2 and he's not interested in the cassettes.

I had thought about using IXMOOs but the IXMOOs are not cheap.

I use mine regulary and almost exclusive.
Works very well especially with Efke Films which are sensitive against dust particles in the felt light seals of normal cassettes.

I've got a set of 10 in regular use in M4 and M6TTL. I load them with the Leica AFLOO winder.

Would like to give rolling my own film a shot one day, and if I did so, would love to do so with IXMOO's, should it be possible to find some reasonably. I kinda like the idea of having a fridge & freezer full of film and paper, although imagine I would find rolling my own frustrating until I got to the point where I could do it without screwing up

In answer to a question I received, I gotta admit I did not accumulate those IXMOO's myself.
I put a 'wanted' ad up on a Dutch vending site some time ago and was offered 60 of 'em while I already had 15 myself
for a real sweet price.
I've extended the courtesy by selling 3 sets of 10 each off to fellow members here at nearly-as-nice prices and the 40 that now remain are my personal stash

Go for it! My initial troubles with loading IXMOO did not last long. I load in total darkness without a winder. It helps to have an ABLON, though, for cutting the pointed edge without being able to see.
A thing I like to do: the end of the film which goes into the takeup spool of the M I cut straight, without a tongue. If you push the film into the takeup-spool all the way, then you need a lip, otherwise the takeup-spool would hold on to the film to tight, and you would not be able to get the film of the spool when rewinding.
But if you cut straight, and insert the film into the takeup spool less deeply, you're fine. Advantage is that you can merrily rewind the film all the way into your IXMOO, and do not have to deal with the lip when you are loading onto the developing reel. Also no chance of mixing up loaded IXMOO with loaded but already exposed IXMOO.

Have now 38 in use, enough to respool a 100ft-bulk of low/medium and a 100ft-bulk of high speed film in one session...

Anyone interested to trade IXMOO for a FILCA? I have the "wrong" one as I found out when I tried to use it.
