J-3, Taken at F2 and Faster

J-3s are all different, one can never have enough.
I like to land one as good as an Opton Zeiss Sonnar f1.5
I am still searching.

I have two J-3's in Contax mount. I now need to locate a Brian Sweeney approved "very good" J-3 LTM.

Taken at a T-Model Ford show at Sarah's Kitchen in Clarksdale, MS. 2008. 1961 ZOMZ LTM J-3 at f/1.5 or f/2.

This is with a Mint condition Carl Zeiss Opton 50mm Sonnar wide-open at F1.5.

The '53 J-3 is just as good to my eye.

Sorry, I don't have one handy @ f2 or below, but here's one @ f5.6 on my M8 that really shows why I like the lens.

j8

Hi, very impressive j3, also it´s price!

Got a j8 form ebay last monday, after dealing with focusing problems at last got it fixed. It focused a few inches far from rangefinder matching point.

It´s the first sovietic in my house and i´m quite happy with it. Don´t know why some people think it´s soft!

Bye

Not too new; Jupiter-3 on a Leica M3. This J3 has not been altered or modified in any way:

Same lens, on a FED-1 adjusted to 28,8mm register and Leica RF calibration:

Sorry to sound negative - and there are some pretty little daughters on the forum, but don't we ever shoot anything else??
Dave.

Dave,
I shoot many olther things. What type of photography do you do?
I usually don't get into asking other RFF members to change their photo habits.

I have thousands of images onfile that are on landscape photography.
My stock agency is Mega Press.

Now,I am a Dad.So I take more often photos of my children. It is about balancing between my hobby and between being a father who takes care of his children. One day,and when my children are older, I expect to get back to landscape photography.

For balance, we are talking about lens tests, and then it would be either to take many photos of a static object, such as a puppet on a table, or maybe of a brick wall, or something like a glass of water with a straw in it ... etc. Taking 50 photos of a glass becomes also quite boring after a while. As a Dad, you might as well take photos of your child, with the expectation that some people will get bored of seeing your child'sphoto, but in the end, the main purpose was the lens being tested.

I would say, there is nothing perfect for everybody here. So what. We can always opt not to look into a specific thread if it appears to be boring to you.
