J. Lane Glass Dry Plates

and about the 25 ASA "speed" plates, here some more:

-a couple of shoots of Sant Pau del Riu-Sec Romanesque church in my hometown, Sabadell, Catalonia. 3A plates shot with a Kodak No.3A Folding Pocket camera (made c.1906), with the dry plate back. These were developed with Rodinal.

The view off my front porch in subzero weather

Plaubel Automatic Makiflex 9x9cm SLR, 9x12cm J Lane Dry Plate developed 18 mins 20c in straight replenished gallon Acufine. Plaubel Makiflex Auto Iris 21cm Heliar. RADA Normalfaltz plate holder in Plaubel Makiflex Adapter. 8x10 Aristo RC #2 Omega DII black 180 Rodagon laser aligned. Iflord Multigrade dev

Depth of field is thin but you can detect the texture of the snow. Shot during covid and feeling isolated

So THAT..is what subzero weather looks like.

I got ONE wooden plate holder
for my Graflex 5x7 SLR. I was
getting a dark place on the negative.
It turns out the wood on draw cover
was cracked. Gorilla tape solved the
problem. Good ol' tape, the photographer's
main problem solver.

The "Bobs Lake" image is another jewel. Knowing what camera it was made with, and the effort you've put into reviving your old cameras, is a fascinating backstory. But for someone encountering this image, and having no knowledge of or interest in that backstory, the image would still be wonderful. For me, it's a reminder that all the futzing around that we do with our "classic" equipment may be fun, but kind of pointless unless we make images that sing. Nice work, Vince!

Many thanks for the great words of encouragement. I have to say that many times I get DIScouraged when I commit yet another failure with the glass plates, but then every so often a shot like that turns up, then I question my questioning of the value of my efforts. Of course if you ask my wife, she'll likely give a totally different answer!

BTW this is the Jeanneret Monobloc (shoots both stereo and panoramic) - I’d be curious to know if the company has any connection at all with Le Corbusier.

It would be wise that all our wives don't even know each other, or they might form an alliance against us 😱😱

On another issue, how did you make the print, pure dark room or with digital world involved? I ask because that's an enlargement of the original format.
