I see Jacobs Digital has gone bust. Sad day as I bought all my cameras there —
X-Pro1 and lenses, M9 and lenses; better than all the other shops too.

I think they are in administration rather than bust. Their shop in Edinburgh is still open (I think) and the web site is still working.

Just announced today in Amateur Photographer and confirmed on the Jacobs web sites. The only store now showing is the Leicester one.

That is indeed sad.

It's also very puzzling since they were a far better shop than Jessops which seems to be still going !

They have 30% off used medium format cameras in the London branch (Some Mamiyas and Bronicas...)

No money off film unfortunately - I tried though

Yes, agreed. I shopped at Jacobs in preference to Jessops. They were a much friendlier store with some really nice staff sadly, the Glasgow store only opened a year or so ago and some of the staff had come from Jessops. I will miss them, but it also means if I get any problems with my cameras, I'll need to deal with the manufacturers direct now.

They were better than Jessops, but they're all playing in the same pcworld, currys, white goods, sell 'em this weeks compact space.

The only way to beat it is to be really good, build good relationships and be available online if needed...

Tough world these days

That's a real shame, I always preferred them to Jessops as well. And it means no more lunchtime jaunts to the Cannon Street branch to drool over the M9 and Leica lenses in the window....
