Way back when we were loosing Puck Fair, I spent lots of time looking at new places. I will not do that again. Back then I got a list of suggestions...

I already do a lot to keep this Meet-Up going. Is it really too much to ask for a favor of you checking out this place on a Sunday? If you don't have the time, then I don't either.

I can tell you right now that Rochard is better than Lorelie's. It seems difficult to find a Puck Fair replacement downtown.

Your suggestion is not helpful if you are not helpful. If it is so easy and convenient why not visit on a Sunday?

Seems like a nice upscale place. Seems really great for our Camera Marty-Graws.

I can tell you that the Rochard is low key and very much reminds me of Puck Fair. Nothing fancy, but very casual.

Perhaps as a theme for our February Camera Carnaval we can do the sin and repent motif using GAS.

Anyone looking for really good high quality one gallon glass containers for your chemistry know that I currently have a supply of 4 available.

I ask my radiochemists to save these Regent Grade chemical brown glass jugs that once held alcohols because they can be cleaned by a few simple water rinses.

These are the finest glass containers available with beefy screw caps that are kinda manly. Best to PM me for private pick-up on the UES.

Let's make the date for Sunday January 21st at Rochard on Lexington and 97th.

The closest subway (half a block away) is the 6 Train at 96th Street.

For Brooklynites and downtowners the "Q" train at 96th and Second Avenue is only a few blocks away.

For Westsiders the M96 bus will bring you crosstown.

Don't be a lazy slacker. Come check out the new Puck Fair replacement. Basically a low key uptown bar, no frills, but not crowded and noisy like Lorelie's sometimes.

I have some new prints that are more refined that are optimized for the new Piezography Pro with the new darker blacker-black.

I will likely show off some of my developing tanks that are a bit "Calzoned." One is a JOBO 3013 that can hold three 15 foot 70mm reels that takes over 7 liters to fill. I have 3 1/2 gallon Kodak hard rubber tanks to accomodate dip and dunk using a stainless Nikor 18 reel 120 rack. Then I have this almost 3 liter stainless steel inversion tank.

Anyways for me these tanks are kinda like trophies and suggest that the owner is a bit ambitious and crazy. "Crazy is good," I say. LOL.

"Maggie" now has 285K followers. Looks like some paying gigs are lining up.

Now it seems like the archive I have of shots taken over the years is paying off because I own the rights. Pretty much I can charge a pretty big fee for "usage" while maintaining my rights. Kinda like a stock photography business but like being a one man pov-er-rot-Z.

It is now paying off that my gal is a celeb and I have been her personal photographer. Bill Cunningham had his neighbor as his "muse." Similarly Maggie has somehow become my muse.

Kinda funny how now I'm her sideman. LOL.

The money is great.

In negociating you do kinda have to be a Brooklyn tough guy. Pretty much they are trying to mug you and get your photography for free, but if you are street smart you end up mugging them. Pretty much growing up in the 70's is a good education and training. LOL. Pretty much requires the same type of street fighting mentality.

Like street fighting though it is only good if you win.

The last gig involved just three shots. Once we settled on price early in December after several e-mails I got the check before Christmas. Several thousands of dollars. If I could do two of these on this scale a month I could quit my day job, but this is not steady income.

So it also is a story of David verses Goliath, except me being the little guy. Instead of using speed, agility, and experience to take down a big man, I use other skills, but I am just as brutal.

Robert Horse-sha-vac from Shark Tank had it right: being a good salesman is a great skill to have, and being a good salesman helps you in everything you do.

I remember when I worked as a salesman in a tropical fish store selling the "ten-dollar special" and bilking customers for hundreds of dollars in add on's. I was good at sharking people. Was pretty much like stealing.

Now today those same skills are coming in handy. First rule to learn is that these media companies lie: they do have money; they just don't want to spent it.

I just got notified that a 75 Cron SL is expected to be in hand at my dealer, and I'm first on the list.

Believe it or not I already had a chance to play around with this lens before this release. At E67 and the lack of adapters it seems a bit more compact than my 35 Lux-R with adapter (also E67). $4750.00.

The lens that I'm more interested in is the 35 Cron-SL. I'm holding out...

you got to go for it. I too have just been bit by the hi quality lens bug I'll
bring that next month for that I hope!

You know how we all love gear.

Although the 50 Lux SL is way oversized and heavy I will say that it has a stunning rendering. Remarkably sharp because it is ASPH, but also smooth and not clinical. It is the best 50 I have ever used.

I wonder if the 35 Cron will be as wonderful?

It's in tribeca corner of Reade st and Church. Convenient for anyone coming from the east side or west side and very convenient for anyone taking the PATH. They have a balcony area with a long table. Feels just like the one at puckfair. I talked with the manager and they are open to us gathering, plus will do separate checks. The food was excellent. It was relaxed and it didn't look as if it would get very crowded (although you never know). Just throwing this out as a long term alternative to loreleys.

The 50 Lux SL is a "Monster." Big and heavy for sure. But it is the finest 50 I have ever used. I have some shots taken wide open, and the results are stunning.

The lens is mucho sharp without being clinical. Also the bokeh and OOF is beautiful and resembles that of a Noctilux. The corners are also sharp and without the light fall off of a Noctilux.

My dealer says the 35 Cron looks to be next year. Should be about the same size as my 35 Lux-R which is still a big lens.
