Jeff,
The only thing is that the Sunday that you and Pro-Mone went there happened to be during the arctic blast. I suspect it was the reason of why the balcony was free and empty.

The balcony can be reserved. I checked with the manager

I'll be passing through NYC on my way back from the Middle East shortly, but sadly I'll just miss this get together. I will be in the city all day on the 18th if anyone has interesting plans and would like some company!

Pro-Mone,
Now that I have this important detail things look more promising. This seems to go great with our Carnival theme for our February event. The only thing is reserving the seating.
Hmmm.

Better to call them up with the dates and a rough estimate of how many people ahead of time. The balcony was the size of the one at puckfair. They might not allow 30 people.

Pro-Mone,
Good advise.
We are shooting for Sunday the 25th of February. Likely we can conquer the balcony. The last annual event at Puck Fair whee we were able to use the balcony the space was just about right.
(For those who don't know, the last year at Puck Fair we were not allowed in the balcony. It had been condemned and deemed unsafe by I believe the fire department. LOL.)

Please click on the link below and vote for "Maggie." Yesterday she got nominated for a "Shorty" which is an award for "Digital Influencers." She is competing in the Fashion Category against 11 other, one who is Victoria Beckham.
You can vote once per day till February 22d. Somehow these votes are weighted and there is also a panel of judges. Please vote once a day. Thanks in advance.

1803 looks to be much nicer.
BTW somehow I just got a writing gig involving cameras. "I was just minding my own business..."
I was contacted by an editor. It is an online blog/zine.

I have a short trip to NYC planned for Friday, January 19th (my birthday, coincidentally). Is anybody around and interested in meeting for some RF photography and probably a few cups of hot coffee along the way?
I'll be starting out in lower Manhattan early in the day...I'm staying a block from the World Trade Center site. I thought I might make it to the Leica gallery at some point, too.
Let me know here or email me at david (dot) manning (at) me (dot) com
That is david.manning@me.com
Hope to hear from interested "strollers."

I have 21 of these i liter graduated containers with a loud orange cap. Christian mentioned he wasts a few, so I'm getting technical in quantifying exactly how many. First come first serve. These are the best. They are like me: they have a big mouth. LOL.

David,
First off Happy Birthday.
I'm a bit crazy busy, but know I used the Wintergarden for a photoshoot as my studio over the holiday weekend. At one point we got a cease and desist from two security guys. LOL. Know I got some great shots.
If you want to see the shot my fashion blogger gal used check her Monday post at www.AccidentalIcon.com.
All the best.

Sorry I'll miss this Sunday...I'll be in the city Friday (the 19th), toting my ancient M9. Give me a shout if anyone is playing hooky.
Winzenbourg...will you still be around on the 19th, or only the 18th?

David,
I will be at Grand Central at 4:00 PM to meet Farras, another photographer. The purpose of this micro-meet-up is to look at some of my prints. I will be bringing out a folio of some of my prints (20x30 image size on 24x36 paper).
If you are interested in seeing some B&W Piezography prints (seven shades of black) you are welcome to join us.
We are meeting at the clock in the big hall.

Seems like the Davos opportunity fell through. "A change of direction" was cited as the reason. Oh-well. This happens a lot.
CameraChronicle.com is the blog/zine I was invited to be a guest writer. Our friend George from the Meet-Up is the Editor.
This is really a great opportunity because I can really use a good editor. Pretty much George has a lot of editing experience, and I have a lot of experience ranting. LOL.

My friend Sara who is a printmaker sent me a link because it seemed suitable for my work. Pretty much because I tend to print large that there is a competition for images to be on public display on billboards in L.A.
Sara I met at the Gallery Workshop, and she is a great printmaker. She does alternative process.
So I'll be submitting some of my images to annoy people.
At the Gallery Workshop Darren, one of the owners of Klompching Gallery in Dumbo, asked me, "Why are these prints so big?" LOL.
Anyways I figured out why I tend to print in two sizes: 12x18 image on 17x22 paper; and 20x30 on 24x36 paper. One is for holding a print at arms length and the intimate and tactile experience; and the big prints for a billboard like effect that grabs the viewer from afar and draws them in for a closer look.
Sara evidently understood why I like to print big: impact.
"Crazy is good," I say.

I'll bring out some new prints that are optimized for Piezography Pro. Previously I just printed K-7 files from my export folder because I screwed up my Lightroom library.
Since then I recovered my RAW files and made new prints that really crushes my older prints. Huge dynamic range. Next step is load Piezography Pro into my 7800 to print huge.
Also I likely will put my 3880 into storage mode. I'll load it with Piezoflush and put the printer into the original box in Public Storage. With the 7800 I can always print smaller, and I'll save the 3880 as a color printer. I'll be prepared to make some room for a 9800 or 9880. I think I can fit this 230 pound 44 inch printer into my studio without the stand.
I think my next goal is to get some of my images into that billboard competition in L.A. How rude would that be? LOL. This would really firmly establish my reputation for printing big. LOL.
