My own experience has stunned me. I asked about it a month ago and was told that option is not available for contractors, only for fully fledged company employees and for just several days per month. Fast forward to now, and everyone who can do so including me is working from home as much as possible. I've never seen such a fast implementation of new policy during my 25 years working in Japan.

I think Taiwan is actually the gold standard, though Korea's effort is impressive. And the number of tests Germany is now doing weekly is really something. But its easy to become an armchair expert after watching a few youtube vidoes 🙂

Point here is, Taiwan had stringent measures early on to quarantine oversea arrivals, and extremely aggressive (civil right violation even beyond China's scope) contact-tracing program in place that you must also be aware of. The rationing of face masks is also impressive. They clearly have a complete set of protocols that's being faithfully followed since day 1. They checked all boxes so they're faring well - even with that, their overwhelming focus on China had them caught off guard by the severity of the pandemic hitting Europe and America, and now there's some mild community spread.

I believe Germany has been doing most things right but lack the stringent containment measure to shut community spread off. Curve is not flattening. They're betting on their expansive ICU capacity to absorb the shock but to what extent that'll do we don't know.

Why bodies haven't piling up in Japan has been really curious to most of us, but little data is available. Maybe face masks really helped a lot. My highly hypothetical hypothesis (excuse me for the redundancy) being like what's mentioned in the NHK program, there weren't much first wave infection that came from China at all so little community spread in February, and it's the current (overlooked) wave that came from Europe and America that's causing the curve to steepen. But yeah...what do I know.

I asked them to hold it as it's a hard to find book, and the price was very reasonable.
 
Here in New Zealand, we're starting the second fortnight of a month's full lockdown. There are police checkpoints checking drivers. The borders are closed to all but citizens, and all who arrive go into a 2 week supervised quarantine. As of today, we have 1283 confirmed or probable cases, 16 people in hospital. We have had 2 deaths. There were 4500 tests done yesterday - .5% were positive.

Did you try pointing out to them that Australia is _not_ mentioned in the document they linked to?

Of course there are still likely to be delays, but . . . ???

I’ve messaged a Japanese seller to see if they can ship to the UK, it’s not in the document above so in theory should be ok....

Maybe no longer processing incoming as well. My package from England shows travel in England and leaving Heathrow but nothing in the US so far.

I have a item stuck in Chile due to suspension of flights outgoing.

I'm not in a hurry to make any purchases international anytime soon.

It's like a movie, in slow motion, as one by one the countries of the world close down, and all one took for granted is gone.

On the other hand, all is peace and quiet, vehicles have gone, happy children are playing in the apartment garden space behind. Please, shoot me now!
 
Since we're largely talking cameras, JP post isn't the only show in town. I've received shipments from Japanese sellers in the last week, shipped to North America via Fedex & DHL at very reasonable rates & they arrived quickly.
