Jill Freedman in NYT

Great article, but it made me a little sad actually. Between her situation (reminded me a bit of Bob Richardson) and mallification of NYC, it kind of got to me. But if the new New York can pay her back and help prop her up, then there's some good left there yet. The idea of her life's work sitting in a storage locker in Bushwick is frightening.

I'm so moved by this story

probably because the photographer is a woman and has had some experiences that resonate for me. But, also because she did something I wish I could have done. My kids and my home kept me from being a vagabond photographer, but I also haven't had to experience a time in my life, save for a very short period, when I had no health care/health insurance.
Ms. Freedman is also near my age and the rate at which the ability to move about in the "street," and so on, diminishes must seem very pressing to her.
