Thanks for the links. Jill is an old friend. We both started out in Pittsburgh and came to NY about the same time. When she got back to NY last year we swapped a lot of emails. I'm in California right now, but I'll be in the City in a couple of weeks and will have a chance to see her show. The Times is right in calling her "gutsy." She's also an incredibly talented artist. If she's a documentary photographer, she is one in the same sense Bruce Davidson or the early Will McBride are. Hooray that she is getting a little attention after a nasty dry spell.

Thank you, too! After seeing the photo selection, I can only say her work is beautiful.
And I love the "Jumping rope" photo!

Bill, we're crossing tracks. I'm from NY and lived in the Brentwood / Santa Monica area for many years. ;)

She's really good. Her pictures have something that is lacking in a lot of work- intimacy. You really feel immersed in the environment. And she has a good sense of humor. I saw the tail end of that New York in the late, late 1980's, just before they cleaned up Manhattan and turned 42nd St in to 'Disneyland'.

I'm glad to see that she is being rediscovered and hope she keeps shooting.
