Dear Board,

I don't usually try to promote 3rd party gear unless it is absolutely necessary. In this case it is.

I own a Nikon 200-500 f5.6 AF-s and an Olympus 100-400mm f/5-6.3 lens. Both were purchased new from reputable authorized dealers, the Nikon came direct from Nikon USA. While there are many lenses than cost more far money out there I still felt it was kind of cheap and chintzy for Olympus to include nothing to protect a new lens and for Nikon to just include a soft bag. Especially since I have 3rd party long range telephotos from Sigma that came with nice padded cases with shoulder straps.

So I looked on Amazon for an alternative and for about $ 39.00 got two very nice padded cases that fit my Olympus and Nikon lenses with the hoods and tripod feet attached perfectly. They look nice and include shoulder straps too if you are so inclined. I'm just glad I now have cases for two lenses that I enjoy using but don't use all the time. They are safe and sound when they need to be now.

I figured I'd post in case someone else needs an inexpensive but sturdy lens case for their baby!

Tim, thank you for the heads up on the JJC padded lens cases.

I have bought several JJC lens hoods and other accessories. JJC's quality is high and the prices are in my opinion reasonable.

A satisfied customer,
Mike

Dear Mike,

I realize that many, even most, things that JJC sells are knock-offs. But the value to price ratio is very high with them. Everything I've bought fits and performs as original equipment. That includes case, adapters, mounts, etc etc.

The padded lens cases I bought are worth twice the price I paid, and twice the price they would still be far less than original cases.

I have some lenses that are sitting on a shelf without any cases.
How did you choose which case would fit your lens or do they list what fits?
