Joe, Quick!

Better yet, I'm only 30 minutes from Worcester. But I couldn't guarantee that if I went to look at it for him, I wouldn't just keep it for myself :)

This is his third attempt to sell this. The first time the $275.00 reserve wasn't met. The second time, the $250.00 bid covered the reserve. Apparently the buyer had a change of mind. Now he is trying again.

Is this really worth that price w/o lens?

I think so, but it depends what you're looking for. It is the equivalent to a Leica 3M with a built in meter.

I confess. It was me.

I came back from lunch and spotted Frank's posting, checked my bank/Paypal balanceand went to straight to the auction site and BIN'ed it.

It might be a little high to some of you for a common model, but I just came back from a lunchtime trip to my local camera store to buy some lens caps. They had an M3 single stroke body for $700 and a beater all black Summicron for $400. Now that seemed a little high.

Last week at another local store I saw a Canon V-L body for $600.

I have had a 50/1.8 Canon (pre-Serenar, MIOJ) since 1984, with no Canon body to mount it on. I have also been using a 100/4.0 Serenar (MIOJ) on my Leica IIIf. While I prefer meterless bodies, That isn't an option in the 7 series. Besides a former colleague has been using his 7s for the past 30 years to document his train watching hobby. I think he told me that he bought his for about $150 at an Air Force transit stop. He was on his way to Vietnam and the other airman was on his way home and needed the cash.

So much for my rationalizations. I wanted it badly. Besides, if it it isn't the right camera for me one of y'all will take it off my hands won't you?

-Paul

I agree that is a good deal for this camera. I think we all look so hard for a bargin some times that it is hard to see one when it pops up. Look at the price of Canon 50mm lenses. Everyone thinks you can find them for $100, but they are hot as can be right now and rearly sell for less than $200 if they are clean. I am glad someone here got it.

I'm glad someone here got it too. And for sure Joe (or I) will take it off your hands if you don't want it. I'm a little disappointed in Paul though, for keeping that Canon 50mm f1.8 lens to himself these past 2 or 3 weeks when he knew I am looking for one, and he didn't even have a Canon body to put it on (until now)! Doesn't he know that a Canon lens belongs on a Canon body?

frank,

next time p.m. me;)
but thanks for looking out for me frank.

and paul, you dirty bas......
naw, just kidding.

actually i am very camera cash low at the moment and when i go for the 7 i think it will be for a 7s. call me crazy but i like the looks of it better.
of course if a 7 comes by reeealy cheap, i'll take it.

Let's keep an eye on it and see how it goes over the next 4 days. The seller had it offered for $650, I believe, on Photonet with no takers. I should find out tomorrow about a Summicron a downtown camera shop has and that may trade it for some of my gear (Super Ikonta B MX 533/16, and an original Mamiyaflex with 80 and 135mm chrome lenses.)

is that the same one that was on photo.net?

hhmmm, yeah, i never would pay 650 for it but then i'm not really big into fast glass.

joe

Congrats Paul - good price for that condition.

Joe - that's a great looking P...hmmm..... ;)

Actually I'm working on a off-eBay purchase of a camera body. Been emailing back and forth for a few days and think the deal is just about wrapped up.... I will treat it as my only christmas gift from me - to me ...

Nope....it's a 35mm rangefinder - but not a Canon P....

Not gonna say anymore or I'll jinx the deal... :)
