John Hedgecoe - R.I.P.

I'm sorry to hear about this. Like many other photographers, I've a number of John Hedgecoe books in my library which I read avidly all those years ago, and still dip into from time to time. Somehow, Xmas in those days never seemed like Xmas without a John Hedgecoe book in the stocking.

I cannot imagine how comparatively stunted my growth as a self-taught photographer would have been without his writings. The loss of the man is sad, but at least his writings remain. He made a great contribution.

I knew of his tuition books, but when I bought my wife an amazing book on Henry Moore, filled with his photos, I realised what a true artist he was. A good life, well-lived, from what I understand.

Kudos to Mr. Hedgecoe! I have stumbled upon one of his books last year and found it exceptionally well done and informative.

Really Sad to know that he's gone. I bought one of his books long time ago when I started getting serious about photography. Cheers to John.

Beside his merits as a great photography teacher I love his style of breaking the "rules" in his personal work: wide angle portraits, strange colors, shooting nudes of not so glamourous persons, ...
