He plays better than DM in my opinion with his live music being more complex and freestyle.

He is a good musician really, out shadowed by his own fame apparently.
I think only the people who really listen to his music can appreciate it. Like any music really, If you haven't heard it you probably do not have a clue.

What is the ex girlfriends thread by the way?

Amen. There seems to be a lot of pent-up bitterness all over the web, but it's creeping into the forum increasingly. At least that's from what i can tell--but don't trust me, I don't own a Noctilux :p

Yes but Seal brought it on himself with his 'suffer no fools' commentary. (But that actually was on another forum, and it crossed over into others.)

We need more threads about RFF celebs and their Leicas. Oh, we already have one! :)
 
it's not just about celebs with cameras...rff is going south...getting into the habit of being negative...i would like to think that we are better than that.
 
Always enjoyed John Mayer, a hell of talented guitar player and performer. Enjoy his playing at Crossroads with Eric Clapton. (you can do a search and find some UTube materail if interested) He has demonstrated he can play pop, soft rock, rock, country, and the blues.

No need to respond to folks who are negative, if you don't feed into the negativity it will disapate, some times it takes patience.
 
I have nothing negative to say about him. I'm familiar with his talent as a guitarist, but I don't listen to his music. For what it's worth, I don't listen to Santana or Eric Clapton, either.
He comes across as very intelligent and vaguely humble in his Rolling Stone interview.

I'm all for sweetness and light but surely a little leg pulling is acceptable? I admit that my post would have been better for a couple of smilies :(

As for everything going to the bad, I don't see that at all. What I do see is that people on the internet feel free to be honest. Isn't that a good thing?
 
I like John Mayer's music, and as a musician myself I can appreciate that the guy's one heck of a player. He also is one of the most successful acts of the past decade whose new album is numbe one (despite all the "who is John Mayer?" posts) so when he talks about film and vintage rangefinders on his blog, we should all be thrilled. I don't like Justin Bieber's music, but if he told his millions of admirers about how much he loves his new M4, I'd be his newest fan. It's fashionable to bash JM; I get it. But in this case it makes no sense to me. The most popular thread in the past week has been the one about slide film, with many on here, myself included, cramming our brains to come up with ideas to keep slide film (and, by extension, film itself) alive. A huge boost to that cause would be a celebrity coming out in support of film. Then one of the world's biggest does just that and what happens? He gets bashed (by many, not all) on a forum dedicated to rangefinders. It's self-defeating. There seem to be a bunch of film-shooting celebs--Brad Pitt comes to mind. We should be so lucky when they happen to mention it in interviews. I wish it happened more often.

Pretty much spot on. It's quite obviously jealousy on behalf of some.
 
I had read somewhere that Brad Pitt shoots film, but didn't find anything in a short google search just now. We need more high-profilers speaking out on behalf of film, if only to make it "cool" and get others doing it.
