Greetings,
I recently acquired an Electro 35 GL and am happily pushing my first roll of film (Kodak C-41 B&W) through it. Everything seems to be working, but it remains to be seen whether focus, meter, etc. are calibrated. There's also a bit of fungus on the inside edge of the front element, the effects of which also remain to be seen. (Is this the sort of thing that can be addressed with a cleaning, or is it there to stay?)
While I do most shooting with a modern DSLR setup, something within me yearned for the simplicity and charm of shooting with a classic rangefinder. I chose the GL for its fast lens, aperture priority automation (which best suits my style of shooting) and for the fact that it seems to be one of very few classic fixed-lens rangefinders that "understand" ISO 1600. Because I'm a big fan of available-light photography, and because I'm exposure-impaired and still highly reliant on built-in metering, these were important features to have. 😀
Anyway, just wanted to greet my fellow Yashica users. Hopefully I'll have something worth showing soon!
Cheers,
Jeremy
