Joining your ranks - need a little lens advice...

It's great seeing shots form a few different lenses. I hopefully should get the camera by saturday. :D

In terms of lenses I think I'm changing direction a little in terms of wide and going for 24mm. Possibly the CV 25mm f4P. Although I prefer faster lenses my budget restricts me a little, but the feedback I've seen on it is generally positive. back alley - is this the lens that you are getting? I think at a later stage I'll look at the 15mm/4 but for now it will be just a 24mm.

In terms of long, I havent been able to find a hex 90 here so not able to find out much about it. Currently now I'm seriously looking at the Nikkor 105/2.5. I can source a second hand one here, but I think I also need to factor in buying an adaptor. The other option is the Leica Elmarit 90/2.8. The Nikkor is half the price though, so I'm leaning in that direction. Anyone any experience of these? Also does anyone know roughly how much an adaptor would be?

yes, i'm waiting on the little cv 25/4...i have used it before, it's a great lens and works well on the rd1.
look for the cv 75 or 90...both good lenses, small and sharp and work on the rd1 just fine.

Joe, a question, how do you frame for a 90mm lens on Rd1? using an external VF?

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone that took time to comment on lenses and upload images. Its been a great help and given me lots of food for thought.

I finally have the camera and I'm enjoying the learning curve with it. I've posted 3 pics in image thread for the R-D1 if anyone wants to see how I'm doing. Thanks again for everything!

there is a mod you can do if you're hardcore to add frame lines or markers for 90mm. it involves drilling a little bit of the frame mask plate. not a job for the squeamish but not horribly difficult a job.
