I'm not sure if this post belongs in general or classifieds, but here goes:

I just purchased the Konica S2 from Jon Goodman that was posted on the classifieds board. Living in Dallas, as does Jon, I picked the camera up at his office. Jon is a true Texas gentleman and graciously spent time explaining the origins and functions of the camera (which is in incredible condition). Jon is a definite asset to this forum and I would happily recommend him to any prospective purchaser. If the rest of the members of this fourm are half as nice and a quarter as interested in RF photography, then this is truly the best photography site on the net.

I recently purchased and installed one of his light seal kits. He bent over backwards to be sure I got it on time. :) Very easy to install and very good instructions.

Installing the new kit was much easier than getting the old seals out.

I've been very impressed with both the capabilities and the attitudes of the people here. Most on line forums (fora?) seem to have a good share of jerks and nonsense bickering, and those really appear to be absent here. Every time I've posted a question I've received good and usable answers.

Jon saved me from a bad ebay experience--- I bought a Contaflex I which was supposed to be in good working order, it was actually *somewhat* less than described. Jon took it in trade towards a beautiful, perfect camera of the same model. Turned a disappointing acquisition into one of my favorite shooters. And I got to meet a class guy in the process. A nicer and more knowledgeable person you will not find, IMHO.

I'll vouch for the light seal kits, too. I was able to rehabilitate my Hi-Matic 7 with ease. In addition Mr. Goodman emailed me, free of charge, additional instructions for replacing the seals in my other cameras.

Can we make a photo contest on RFF in which the only entry criteria is that your camera must have been purchased from Mr. Goodman or repaired using one of his kits? That might be fun way for all of us to thank a very helpful fellow member!

I'm in for that, and here's the first entry.

Ok, I'm in too, here's another entry, one of the very first ones taken with the camera, shortly after I put the light seal kit in ...

I have never puchased anything from the forum.. But i do have to say this is the nicest place that I have come to, that has helpful people with out trying to make you feel like a dumb A#% in the process. Also the gallery and image comments, never mean but constructive and most people post images.....

I like it here! Thanks to all of you for all the help given

That photo was taken on Turtle Creek, down the street from my office. Nice snap. :)

Why, Thank you! When I get a new camera, I will sometimes head for Turtle Creek on my lunch hour to get some shots in. You will certainly recognize this one, also taken with the Contaflex I that came from Mr. Goodman.

Same here, he went 10 extra miles when I ordered seals for my Canonet, was extra helpful and mailed me the specific Canonet instructions and during the process (and after) we exchanged some great correspondence, eh amigo ? ;)

All in all, I'd say the RFF is honored to have such a great person as a regular member :)

I, too, have done business with Jon! He is a right honorable gentleman! Three cheers for Jon. HIP HIP!

Only problem with Jon's kits - once your friends find out you can replace the seals, you get their cameras to do .... :-(

Here's three images - from a Canonet with the good Goodman seals - obviously not including the first one of the camera !

Cheers Jon

And here's a couple from the Minolta Hi-Matic 7 and Hi-Matic G that I repaired with John's light seal kit.

Thanks again, John! :)

I sent Jon an email after I saw his light seals on ebay. He had some for a GSN and sent them to me before I sent the payment. I got them today. He is the best!!!!

You guys are....

You guys are....

embarrassing me...or flattering me. Normally I keep a $50 bill handy for comments like these, but...well, did I tell you I'm saving for a wedding? So, I'll just say thanks and put all the 50 dollar bills back in this shoebox! Nothing is nicer than knowing you're thought of well, and you guys are really some fine friends! Thanks again!
Jon

Wow, John It takes a friendly person to make good friends and it sounds like you are a good one.
Now I know who to ask if I need new light-seals ~ ; - )

I too am one of Jon's very satisfied customers. I have bought 2 light seal kits from him - the second time he evn customised the contents to make sure I had enough of the right materials to refurb a whole mountain of old RF cameras.

I don't know how he gets the stuff to the UK so quickly through standard post either!

Jon is really trustworthy. I got a light seal kit from him, and also a nice black Yashica GT kit. When it turned out that the camera had a minor problem (most likely due to tumbling in transport to the other side of the world!), Jon promptly offered compensation, which I refused, since it was definitely not his fault. A few days later, I fixed it, and I'm quite happy. I'll most definitely buy again from him!
