Cameras are like bunnies
Read about it here...
I wish Apple would get more involved in this than just a one off special edition by their VP of Design.

Yes, they seem not so well informed at Electronista... I hope they have the basic message right.

That's two insults to Leica fans in a single sentence. Referring to it as a dSLR and then the quotation marks around "rangefinder" as if it's not a real thing
Curious to see what the camera will look like, though.

To be fair, Leica's flagship model is being displayed wearing an SLR lens and what looks suspiciously like a rebadged (and overpriced) Olympus EVF, and with its live view and video capabilities being played up. That quote isn't too far from the truth.

This was the line (referring to the M) that got me:
"As with most of Leica's designs, Panasonic may license it to produce a slightly cheaper Lumix version."

The thing I am a little confused about, being a fan of Ive... what exactly is he going to do? He is a physical designer, sure he picks materials and color schemes, but his genius lays in how he applies Dieter Rams' principles to modern technology. I don't really know where this is going.

Perhaps it will be a sticker of the iPhone that you can stick on the back of your Leica M. Kind of the inverse of those M9 stickers that people put on the back of their iPhones.

"it is one of the most remarkable devices we have ever conceived. We weren't even sure that it would end up being a phone. I mean a camera. It changes your whole conception of what it is to exist. The machine processes required to incorporate our two companies' manufacturing processes led to a radical reconception of what sort of human user might best fit it. We came close to dispensing with the user altogether........"

Firmware upgrades only through the App Store and photos downloaded only via iTunes. Or perhaps all photos are run through Instagram.
