Let's avoid scheduling the Meet-Up the first week of July for obvious reasons.

John asked me to bring to this Meet-Up my Visible Dust LED iluminated Magnifier that is designed for sensor inspection.

Make sure your batteries are fully charged when checking and cleaning
your sensors.

Bob

Bob,

My MM9 won't allow you to open the shutter to check the sensor if the battery isn't close to fully charged.

I'll be bringing my Visible Dust illuminated magnifier to the July Meet-Up if anyone wants to chech their sensor on their "hand-Scanner."

I know I can't make this one, will be in China most of the month!

Hope everyone has a great time.

That is true, Pretty much all of them do, but it's just a reminder. Just a side note I took back the used
Leica battery I got for the M8 and purchased a new one and so far is holding a charge beautifully

July 19th works for me.

Steve,

Let's make the date July 19th.

UPDATE: Maggie got a big gig happening with international exposure that pays thousands. Already she had a trial/prep with a full blown crew where they set up in Milk Studios to style her, take some test shots, and even had a tailor make adjustments for clothes that she will wear on the shoot later this month.

GEAR ALERT: I just bought a Nikon 28 F1.4D for use with my D3X. This is my first autofocus lens and my intent is to use the D3X with 28 F1.4D for night shooting street. This discontinued lens is low coma like my Noct-Nikkor. It does not get more evil than this camera. Only 7333 28 F1.4D's ever made, while only about 11K Noct-Nikkors ever made.

I'll be out of town for this one. Hopefully by August I'll have moved to a new place that isn't so small that I need to keep my camera gear in storage.

Cal,
Is that the older model with the metal housing if it is that's a great
lens. Happy Fourth everyone!

Bob

Bob,

The 28/1.4D has a metal housing and black crinkle paint finish. Pretty amazing shooting a 28 at F1.4. It pairs up nicely with the Noct-Nikkor on my D3X.

The FOV is not the most flattering lens for fashion, but for "Editorial" work where you kinda stage drama it is an interesting lens due to the rendering which I find compelling and unique. "Maggie" is starting a body of work called "Dark Space." The images are a combination of monotone and color that are very urban.

Cal

Nice Cal, that's a great lens for sure.

Bob,

Paired with the Noct-Nikkor I have 28-58 covered with fast primes. It will be interesting shooting at night with the D3X. This is my intent as some of my weekend gets diverted to "Maggie's" blog.

Cal

I think with the D3X and it's low noise and the 28mm it should be fantastic.

Bob

Bob,

You are correct: the D3X and 28/1.4D is an impressive rig. I've been shooting it a lot wide open. It is very interesting seeing a shallow DOF and the sharpness isolating a subject with a 28mm FOV. Very different than the way the Noct-Nikkor does it. I really like the rendering.

The wide angle FOV allows slow shutter speeds to be sharp so I don't need an ISO higher than say 640 or 800 for night shooting. I bought a 72-77 step-up ring so I can use a 77mm polorizer as a ND filter to kill two stops in bright sun so I can still shoot wide open.

Definately a "Monster" camera though.

Cal

I'll be bringing the camera I call "The Beast" (Nikon D3X) with my Noct-Nikkor and new 28/1.4D.

I'll have on hand my Visible Dust LED magnifier is anyone wants to see if their sensor is clean.

See you on the 19th.

What kind of gear do you have in storage? Your apt wasn't that small!
