Also want to mention that if anyone wants to meet-up hyper early 8:30-10 AM there is some great light in Port Morris that is accessible by walking to Randal's Island.

Also Hellgate Bridge about 1:45 PM has these great shadows with these concentric series of curving arches that are kinda dramatic.

We could make a walking and shooting meet-up. Shoot Port Morris and Mott Haven in the morning, break for lunch, and then shoot Hellgate's arches.

Bob I have your prints, but if we do shooting I'll just keep them at home.

I believe it was the PacSafe. I remember all the antitheft like the steel cable in the straps of other products to prevent the slash and run.

The bag size was kinda ideal for a Baby Linhof without a grip. Ends up that this leather high-end bag that I use for my SL also can fit a Baby Linhoff.

Unfortunately, I have a short trip with a few things beyond my control in my family this time around. Maybe a few of us can just meet for lunch in Chinatown or something if you don't want to have a full blown meet-up.

"Maggie" got the gig.

Today is some breakfast and panel about women on-tour-pour-nor-ship.

Refilled my carts last night and made a print last night to add to my book. Having a small printer (3880) and one-pass printing using Piezography Pro is really great to make proofs and book pages.

I checked my Piezography Pro ink supply and I still have a huge stockpile of ink that I took advantage of sale/discount pricing. I think I will make a few prints every night. The costs seem to be just the paper.

In May there was suppose to be a restocking of Jon Cone Type 5 (Baryta coated rag) in 17x22. I already stockpiled 24 inch rolls for the Jersey Barrier.

Last night "Maggie" hit 525K followers. Basically a "bump" of 25K followers in a week due to that New York Times feature.

Maggie did well at the audition and got that big gig. Also yesterday she was part of some panel discussion and became reacquainted with some PR person that she met last week while in California. The follow through is yet another job during "Beautycon" which she will be attending in California after the Fourth of July. Fees are being negociated by her agent.

So I finally realize that I pretty much am a misfit. I somehow never fit in. I was wondering how I end up in all these sitch-Chee-A-tions when I was just walking along "minding my own business."

Like how did I become a fashion photographer? Why did I have to get a tux for a black tie event on four days notice? How did I get a free trip to some former palace in Mad-Rid? How did I end up in the Grand Ballroom at the Plaza Hotel among all these uber rich folk? Why am I being photographed by all these photographers shooting for Getty Images? All these elite places I awkwardly feel out of place, and I don't belong there.

So being a gentrifier by definition I'm an outsider in a different way.

And because of my class and education I kinda get treated like a white guy when I'm not. Then because I'm ABC (American Born Chinese) and especially because I don't speak Chinese, pretty much I am no longer Chinese.

Woody Allen made a film about a guy who had a confused identity, but really my story is more about not having a "home" and that to me is "a place where I belong." My whole life is about being an outsider trying to blend in, but I really don't.

Anyways this understanding became relevant today because I realize why I photograph so many things, basically everything. Basically because I am a cronic outsider who does not fit in. Pretty much I figured out a unifying force in my work: that of an outsider.

Crazy is good I say.

Another funny story: Twas the day of the Gay Pride Parade when I was walking with "Maggie" on 34th Street "minding my own business," when I pass this girl that has her face painted, and for a moment I established eye contact.

So you know how I seem to draw out all the crazies in NYC, and I think this is just another episode because this girl gets up from her seat and approaches me to speak to me.

"You look like my Uncle Calvin," she says.

And I reply, "That's funny because my name is Calvin."

Then this girl says, "My Uncles name is Calvin Lom."

And then things get weird because I say, "That's me."

"I'm your niece Kira."

So at least 8 years have passed since I last saw her. She gained some weight, and maybe I have not seen her in a decade.

So pretty much all these odd and strange things seem to happen to me, and I'm beginning to wonder why? What is the deeper meaning here, because it is so strange and beyond coincedince and chance that it disturbing and bizarre.

As for belonging here, how did I get suckered into running this Meet-Up> This November I think will be nine years.

My niece BTW now lives just a short walk uptown from where I now live.

As usual I was confused. "Maggie" is heading to Iceland for a shoot right after the 4th of July, and the trip to California for "Beautycon" is the week thereafter.

Tomorrow is a Meet-Up for the Artist Development Initiative on the Grand Concourse in the Bronx.

I learned that at Piezography they use an Epson 7900 which is a 24 inch printer that has 10 ink slots that they use for Piezography Pro. They add a Light-Light Warm and a Light-Light Cool utilizing the extra slots, and the highlights are soft and bill-OH-We like in a film wet print.

I was shown a portfolio of over thirty 20x30 images printed on 24x36 sheet that deeply impressed me. To compound this my little 3880 is showing its age. I'm having difficulties when printing with lots of black, the paper buckles, and then the print head scuffs the high spots, even with the platen gap set to widest.

This printer is about 5 years old, it still works, but it is starting to show its age. Meanwhile B&H has this P7000 that has 10 ink slots with a $750.00 rebate, and I went back and discovered that Jon Cone figured out a workaround to the Epson OEM ink lock-in. So somehow I have to try and find $2.6K to upgrade my printer.

Hard to believe that this new 24 inch printer weighs in at 235 pounds and weighs 100 pounds more than my "Jersey Barrier." The Jersey Barrier is the ultimate printer for my K-7 High Density.

Don't tell Maggie that I have GAS for another printer. Know that my 7800 (Jersey Barrier) is staying also. Where can I hide a 235 pound printer?

527K followers last night.

"I was just walking along, minding my own business," when I got solicited for a rather big and ambitious printing gig. I met this guy who I would call a Japanese historian (white guy) that has an archive of vintage 5x7 glass negatives.

Later this week I will be setting up a meeting to show some of my work as samples of image quality and to display possible print sizes that will mirror my hand holdable size and my 20x30 image size on 24x36 sheet for exhibition prints.

Already we discussed that any decay or damage of these glass negatives would be preserved and printed as artifact due to their history. The images I find very-very interesting.

So like in an episode of the series "Shark Tank" I have to pitch and sell an idea. The hook has been baited, and I hope to gaff this big fish. I'm hoping the samples of my work closes the deal.

Know that I'm a really good fisherman, and in the past I was a "pinhooker," meaning I was a good enough fisherman that I consistently sold fish without having a commercial license with two other guys. We were known as "sharpies."

I might have to justify getting a P-7000 for this gig. Printing large format film. Now I will find out how good I really am. This should really advance things...

BTW I collected $100.00 from the Artist Development Initiative which is the remainder of the $250.00 stipend. The 2 inch wide archival linen tape arrived Friday, so I have partially assembled covers. More progress ahead. Also now I have access to an archivast who formally worked at Sotherby's on call when I need help or advise. The same is true for arts administrators. This ADI really moved me forward and advance both me and my work.

Rather casually I met a Gallery Director and rather smoothly had her pick one of my images from a short stack of my business cards. Pretty much a display of my work in miniture that is kinda like a one person show of 20 images that lasts about a minute.

BTW I figured out how I could "hide" a printer in my apartment so I could have two 24 inch printers. I think this will happen if this next gig becomes serious.
