Not strictly a rangefinder matter, but it's within the FSU sphere so perhaps you could bear with me.
I have an M42 screwmount SLR and am pondering the possibility of picking up one of these lenses for it.Just for general use,and informal pictures of the grandchildren.Has anyone any experience/views on these lenses in M42 mount? If so I'd be interested in any comments.
Cheers,
Brian.

Knew someone thirty years ago who used one with a Zenit. Good results, as I recall.

I konow the M39 versions: Solid lenses! The 37a could be used with an extension ring on a bessa and gave great results even at f4.

Jupiter 37A 135/3.5 - copy of CZJ Sonnar 135/3.5
Very sharp lens on the open aperture, good for children portraits and telephoto lens:

Jupiter 11A 135/4 - it's copy of CZJ Sonnar too. Construction 4/3. Exelent lens, not so fast as Jupiter 37A, but has a better pictures for portraits:

The Ju-37A is perhaps one of the best Soviet lenses. I have one with a very tattered and tired looking barrel, but clean glass. And it does excellent work, even when adapted to digital. Great resolution, moderately snappy contrast. Neutral hues too.

I'm not too crazy about the 135mm focal length, but the Jupiter 37A is one of my favorite lenses. These are examples from a M42-mount version, used on a 6MP Pentax *ist.
