Jupiter-12 and Summicron on R-D1

I know, I know, it has been discussed many times, all these non-sientific comparisons etc. But I have the right for my temptations. Especially because I bought a well-kept Jupiter-12 on a flea market (made probably 1974, price 25 USD). Today I compared it to the Summicron 35mm (4th generation, Canadian). The shots are made at ISO 200, 2.8, 1/250 sec, from 1 m. Crop was resized to 600 pix for uploading here, levels adjusted.

For me these two look quite similar. The Jupiter's out-of-focus area is more "impressionist" in my opinion.

The Jupiter 12 (Biogon) is an excellent lens. I would still have mine if I hadn't wanted a faster 35. Its out of focus areas were in fact quite pleasing, though I did not think of the matter earlier.

Jupiter 12 is really an outstanding lens. My only gripe about it is that there's no aperture clicks - but that's not really a major issue.

Btw. Hiiumaa is surely a beautiful place (I know Saaremaa and Muhu). Why not share with us some photos from where you live?
