Hi there, I'be just bought an used Jupiter 12 35mm/2.8 Russian lens (made in 1991). I've been using it for a couple of days on the R-D1 and I have to say that it is a fantastic lens. Very sharp without being clinical, it gives great color rendition and doesn't take too much work when opening the raw files (just added some contrast). And the bokeh also looks very nice to me. Overall, it seems like a very balanced, quality lens for this camera. I attach some shots, just to show how good it is, all taken at F 2.8 if I remember correctly.

The best camera is one that still works!
I don't know about the Jupiter because I have one and it's as soft as hell ... but you're sure selling me on the Epson.
Beautiful colours and really nice shots!
Your example seems pretty sharp to me.

For me jupiter 12 is better than modern biogon 35 c.

Hi! I just want to know if you had some exposure issue with the J12 since it seems the lens partially blocks the lightmeter.
I found my shots are -1 stop.
Is it the same for you?

Hi.. I am amazed you can mount the J-12 on an RD1.
I use mine on my M2 and Iiic.. like you I find it sharp and with good contrast. A very nice lens even if the ergonomics sucks.. I hate having to turn the camera around to check my aperture!!

Domenico - the light meter seems to work fine with RD1; I usually shot in aperture mode but the few times I switched to priority, it seemed to work just right.
PS Belle le tue foto in flickr, complimenti.

For the lightmeter, I meant that the lens protrudes inside the camera and I noticed it partially blocks the meter cell, causing the exposures to be incorrect with that lens. It's enough for me to set +1 to compensate the effect.
With all other lenses I had no issues
