Jupiter 3 - haze only from a certain angle - opinions wanted

Hallo everybody

I have a jupiter 3 which puzzles me. If I watch through the lens I see a clean surface, also glancing at it from many povs doesn't bother me. However if I look at the lens from a 90 degre angle I spot haze.

The pics attached should clarify the issue.

In case it is an hazy lens, what can i do?

The first image is revealing, the second useless. Looking through a lens at a white surface is generally as meaningless as it gets - that will not show up anything smaller than spiders and bugs. What does it look like if you shine a torch (or other point light) through it, against a dark background?

If you are lucky, the lens is internally fogged in a cleanable way. If you are out of luck, fungus has etched into the internal coatings, or the lens has separation in the front group - these would not be economically reparable.

Hm, I used a led torch and I lighted up the lens which was laying upon a black book.

I saw what could be filaments or small cleaning marks (I'm far-sighted and I was using a 3 dioptre strong pair of glasses but I feel they weren't strong enough).

There were also small dots, really tiny.

Haze was very light and could be seen only from a side angle.

Then I used a planar 1.7 as a lens and yes, there was a big streak, milky, and tiny dots, milky as well, plus many tiny filaments and some haze.

Dead i would say if there is no remedy for such stuff, really a pity.

I also tested a collapsible fed 50 that resulted healthy, but the diaphragm is stuck at 5.6 and it shows no intention to work.

back to summicron ... I just wanted to test some old lens.

A side note.

What to do to avoid contamination of other precious lenses? Must I clean the bag it was in alongside nice summicrons?. Rest of the kit is in perfect shape but i need to know if I need to do further cleanup.

Toss out the contaminated lens.
Check your other lenses.
As long as they are in a well ventilated, dry environment (use a dehumidifier if needed), then they should be OK.

If the bag is a cloth / nylon one, then you can wash it in the washing machine.

The more you shoot with the other lenses (in other words, expose them to sunlight), it will lessen the chance they will get fungus, which doesn't particularly care for UV rays.

Just a very bad case of grease.

I disassembled the front lens using a simple caliper.

Alas it fell on the floor since after removing the ring it appeared to be still stuck, while after a while while manipulating it the front lens disengaged and fell to the wooden floor.

Just a tiny scratch, hair thin and less than one mm in length (hmm).

The whole disassembling operation lifted some internal dust in the rear elements block, I avoided disassembling it entirely since I have no screwdriver for this task, and such lenses were very clean minus the dust specks. Will see if I will be willing to complete the job.

if I observe it from a 90 degree angle i can see a very faint hint of greasing though.

A better cleaning will follow
