Jupiter 3 oof lights

I thought I'd modestly contribute to J-3 OOF Lights. Here are some samples. All is guess-metered, of course! IMHO the best rendition is on the portrait of me taken by a friend with my Kiev-2A. I did the focusing for him, that's why I'm even myself slightly oof.

As already mentioned it seems like a bad case of coma. It is unlikely due to proverbial "Soviet tolerances" though. I expect lens was either reassebled incorrectly after cleaning or made from two J-3s of different vintage - not an uncommon occurence these days.

Unless you happen to like the effect, I would ask seller for money back.

I have long suspected the kiev variants of the jupiter lenses may have better quality control than the LTM variants.
As to the aberrations being axially symmetric or not, I think they are, it's just sometimes the subjects in my examples were not all on the same plane so the degree to which they were out of focus varied, know whut I'm sayin?
I'm hoping the 'new' module I have on the way will improve things.. It's definitely a lens worth having, the J3 on the fed 2 with 400 speed film is a great combo indoors, just shoot wide open and as slow as the fed will go shutter wise, and hope for the best.

I first had doubts upon the behaviour of my J3, but lately it has become my main RF lens. I use it more than the prewar coated collapsible 50/2 Sonnar. All the photos are wide-open, though it's possible that the two photos of the singer were taken at f/2 (even up to f/4) as I don't remember the setting I used that night. I've heard of course that LTM versions had more problems that the bayonet mount counterparts. Good luck with yours!
