I am now cash poor. I was thinking of getting a J8 to put on my SP. Will any of the Kiev mount lenses work on the SP? Thanks.

They will work best if you back the optics module out 1/2 turn. Undo the set screw, unscrew 1/2 turn, screw back in. The Helios-103 is easier as it has two set screws. Turning 180degrees allows the screw taps to line back up. The machining on the 1981 and 1982 Helios-103's seems the best to me.

Helios-103 on the Nikon S2, wide-open at F1.8

Adapted to the Nikon S2 by backing the optics out 1/2 turn as stated.

Not bad for a $15 lens.

The locking pin of the J-8, J-3, Helios-103, and Zeiss Contax mount 5cm lenses might require filing for the Nikon. I have found slight differences in the mechanics of the mount.

The rear element of the J-12 does not interfere with the Nikon RF's, but will interfere with the Contax IIa and IIIa. Again, mechanical tolerances of the J-12 mount is "looser" than the Zeiss and Nikon lenses. I solved a Black J-12 mounting problem by filing down the sleeve around the lens mount. It would not fit onto a Kiev or a Nikon without filing. My 1960 chrome J-12 goes onto my S2 without problems. I use J-3's, Helios-103's, and Menopta 53/1.8's on my Nikon RF's.
