I love the J8 sonnar clone on my kiev 4, and I've been thinking about getting an LTM J8 /m-adapter for my R2A. Anybody use one with success?

I'm eyeing the new Zeiss 50 1.5, but thought I'd try this first, especially with all the front focus issues.

Works fine on my Bessa R. And also on my Leitz Minolta CL, my Leica M2 and my Epson R-D1.

Thanks, I'll have to look around for a clean one.

Anybody ever compare the J8 to the new sonnar?

I hear that the j8's ususaly have less build problems then the j3's but I think there are no click stops on the aperture ring, not 100% sure about that though.

Its a curious idea, I have had my eye open for one over here to see if I can nab one cheap just to play with.

Compared to the new sonnar? The new sonnar is about a stop faster and I imagine it would be sharper, better color, contrast, and all that stuff, but at the price can you complain about the j8? If so you could easily sell it here.

Wide open on my Bessa R2a:

Lens works fine, is quite compact actually, Avotius is correct, has no click stops on the aperture. Dont use it much because I much prefer the 35mm ultron, but its perfectly usable with an LTM adaptor.

You should count on sending it to an expert for cleaning and collimation to Leica standard. Having done that, and if you use a lens shade, you'll be rewarded with the results.

Nice shots, they look similar to what I get with my kiev. The no click stops is fine with me. I'll have to order one up.

Now if only I can my R2A back correctly adjusted. It came back today, and I was psyched to get my new nokton on it, only to find that front to back focus issue hadn't been fixed. So it has to go back. Blech.
