So I have just aquired a mint Jupiter 8 from a reputable dealer, and I'm just wondering what problems I am likely to encounter whilst using it on an M2 via an LTM adaptor?

Will it couple true with the RF?

There are no aperture clicks, though I guess that is to be expected.

Mine is black, and the serial number ist: 7745790 if that helps.

Thanks, Benjamin

P.s, This basically what I'm stuck with until I can afford the C-Sonnar so any help or useful information would greatly appreciated.

If you lucked out and got a good one, it is a classic lens in its own right and on par with any classic lens we all favour on RFF.
If it does not need a re-lube job of the focus helix, is also a bonus.
only trying it out will reveal any major short comings, if any.

Mine's fine, too.

Cheers,
Uwe

just like mine!
only back light can be a little problematic =)

some sample shots, I actually like its contrast rendition in black and white:

You should be pleased with this lens. The black ones are of later manufacture (yours was made in 1977 as you can tell from the serial number) and usually do not require focus mount relubrication. The J-8's accept the plentiful 40.5 mm filters, a bonus.

The Jupiter-8 lenses seem to be among the more trouble-free of the Russian lenses, particularly with regard to focus problems.

Enjoy using your J-8, it is a fine, sharp lens. You will continue use it, even if you should later add an additional 50mm.
