I bought a Jupiter 8 and after it arrived I noticed it didn't have filter threads. It is built differently than the 1962 version I already had. I cant find a picture of this type on the web anywhere. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

In the past it could have had as stuck filter on it and it was removed by placing the lens on a lathe and the offending appendage neatly sliced off with a parting tool.
The lens looks to have remnants of a threaded front at one time.

Thank you,
Thank you,
So it's unlikely that it was originally made this way by the oem?
I thought there may have been a version like this made.
I believe your theory is the most likely explanation. Thank you for taking the time to respond.

Also something else to consider:
I have an 1955 J 8 where that threaded ring for mounting filters unscrews completely off the lens due to a small dent on the female threads and a filter will jam on there. Unscrewing the filter off ends up taking that threaded ring off the lens. So it could be missing on your sample due to being damaged and or loose and lost or simply came off with the stuck filter when the previous owner removed the filter and the lens then stayed that way.
Optically this 1955 lens is one of the sharpest J 8 that I ever ran into and I tested out a lot of J 8 lenses and only one black finish J 8 is its equal in my collection.

It is possible. We called odd made goodies like this - made after New Year.
Made while under yesterday influence.
