Hello!

I would like to know if Jupiter3 and Jupiter9 lenses were made for FED2 too.
I love Jup3, but I haven't tested it vs Jup9.
Except for the maximum aperture, is Jup3 really better than Jup9?

Thanks!

The Jupiter-9 is the 85mm F2 short telephoto lens. I love mine; but I think you mean to compare the J-3 with the J-8. My J-8m's are quite sharp.

Jupiter-8m on my Kiev 4

And my Telephoto Gallery, Includes shots with the J-9

If you are interested, I will host a full-resolution scan of one of the j-8m shots and post a link. It is sharp, and has brilliant color rendition. I paid $2 for one of these lenses at a camera show; not the one used here. Talk about under-rated lenses!

Yes! Obviously! Jupiter 8!
:)

Hi- Take a look at www.fedka.com for descriptions and photos of lenses available for FED and Zorki cameras. And lots of other stuff. :)

Also, for your avatar image, isn't that Lenin's portrait? Wouldn't a pic of KGB chief Dzerzinski (FED) be more appropriate? Or whoever that is, he seems to be watching his backside!

that is a pretty "common" lenin pic. I have it in my stamp collection several times, from different countries.

Oops...stamp collection

If we are talking about the J8 ver J3 (both 50mm's) I think you get a better lens with the J8. The J3 can be a bit hit and miss with optical quality were as the J8 seems to be a safe bet if the glass is clean. The later black J8 are my favourite.

I was quite happy with the sharp pics from the J-8 that came on the Zorki 4K.
As an add-on question, does anyone have experience with the J-12 (35mm) lens on a Zorki body? I've got a beautiful looking chrome unit coming from Ukraine, and it is well rated by several web-pages. What do you personally think of it??

I have a J-12 both in LTM and in Kiev mounts. I think both are very good.

How about the J-11? I've been thinking evil thoughts of a Zorki-6 with a J8, 11, & 12 for it's lenses.

William

Thanks Stanton,
It's good to hear first person feedback, even when "testers" say nice things. I should receive mine soon, so I'll have an opinion myself soon :)
