Just wanted to say a quick hello to the forum. Met Oscar (Taffer) on photo.net some time ago and was so impressed with his wealth and generosity of knowledge, decided to take his suggestion on checking out the RFF forums. I have to say, in the short time that I have been visiting, I've been genuinely impressed with the quality and helpfulness of the members, as well as the sense of community. And most importantly, all done without the vitriol and unnecessary sarcasm that so frequently infects much of what goes on in the Leica forum at photo.net. Which is rather unfortunate, as there is a wealth of truly helpful contributors there too, but just frequently drowned out by drive-by insults.

In any event, hope to learn and share a lot more with this community in the future. I have been a leica shooter for several years, started on Nikon manual SLRs (FM2), first leica was an M3, currently shooting with both M3/M2, Canonet, Contax IIa and my old battered FM2. When I am not making a fool of myself as a photographer, I am making a fool of myself on the river flyfishing ;-) You'd be surprised how smart trout are !

Cheers

Tom

Hi Tom, welcome. I'm sure you will enjoy it here.

Trouts are smart indeed - but you cannot be a fool neither, since you have a good lineup of cameras. Mostly i refer to the contax, of course. Hehe.

I am a fisher myself, but not that much of a flyfisher - I prefer heavier metal bait, "blinkers" so to say.

You can upload some rangefinder-made photos here, you do know that right?:)

welcome tom! hope we live up to those expectations.

photo.net does have some very nice & knowledgeable people but i know what you mean about the vitriol. it would be easier for newcomers and seasoned member alike if they could tone it down.
we have our moments but most of them are pretty tame.

i agree with pherdi, you have a great line up of shooters there.

Welcome to the group Tom.

Tell me about it... my grandfather left me his fly fishing setup in the will. Nothing beats standing around IN a cold river, waving a stick around calling "Here fishy fishy fishy..."

Stu :)

Hey Tom,
I'm another one who enjoys beating the wind but mainly in saltier water, we have much in common: I used to live in N.C. (close to the coast), Flyfishin, and most importantly I also shoot an M3 so looking forward to your posts!

Welcome, Tom. Nice to have you here. NC is a beautiful place. I went there (Durham) when I was 16 as an exchange student from Russia. Loved those pines......Hope to see some of your work in the galleries soon.

Hey Tom !! Welcome !!! I'm very happy to see you around here :) Meakin is right, soon you'll find yourself thinking that RFF is a part of your own body :D
