I almost only shoot HP5 in my M6 or M3 so I thought might as well take a punt on this.
If I don't enjoy the whole 'digital' thing I will move back to film.
Not that I'd completely stop shooting film; the Mamiya 7 almost always has Delta/Portra 400 in it 🙂

At this point I think the MM will more and more become a cult camera.

The M246 is a much more advanced camera, but the M9M will likely be the last CCD camera from Leica for B&W. CMOS sensors have advantages and are less expensive.

For old film guys like me that want a digital camera that is "primitive" and most like a basic film camera the MM is it: no frills and the most basic camera.

The MM has its own unique rendering also due to its CCD sensor. I for one love the mids. The CMOS sensor on my SL has smoother rolloff in the highlights, and enhanced shadow detail, but the mids are kinda scooped.

Also know that the MM can be likely the most demanding camera to shoot because it is the most unforgiving. It made me into a much better photographer because it is most unforgiving.

I sold mine about 2 months ago, it was a great camera considering how little I paid for it (even after getting the sensor replaced) . I'm still kind of shocked at how much these camera's can go for.

The reason I ended up selling was to get a Leica M246. I'm happy with my purchase in both cases.

Well, if you’re bonkers, so am I. I bought my second MM in late October 2018, brand new with new sensor. (It is my second MM, the first which was “consumed” by the Leica sensor replacement delays.)

The MM is a great camera—with, IMHO, the best sensor ever. The only prior camera that I’ve felt as closely bonded to was likely the M6 (which, similarly, I have had twice over the years).

I've wanted to get an original Monochrom for ages, but budget hasn't permitted. M0 black and white images are fantastic, so I can only imagine how good the Monochrom would be.

I was tempted recently to trade up to a used M10 and got a very fair appraisal for my MM. As nice as it would be again to use my Leica glass in color, I decided not to part with the MM. It really has a special look, while not always apparent, it's there often enough.

Congratulations. Good decision. Mine is a gem. Although I have an only two years older M9-P, the M9M is smoother and quieter in the shutter, coming close to my M2 for sheer sweetness of balance and touch. The images continue to amaze me.

i don't understand, the shutter mechanism different from M9-P , smoother than M9-P ?
i thought they are the same mechanism except the sensor ????

If its battery going to be still available in three years, it is in my wish list three years from now. By this time my DR paper will be gone and after it here is no way I could afford film and darkroom paper, but used Monochrome MKI 🙂

I have had mine since 2012 and I still love it. When I am shooting B&W I grab it instead of the M 10.

Like Allen above, I bought my MM in 2012.

Mine got used heavily. The covering was worn smooth in places from gripping the camera. The edges display a silvering where I polished through the black anodize.

After the sensor replacement it came with a new covering that I have to wear smooth again.
