Just bought a Speed Graphic KIT! Unreal!

It's ancient. He calls it a Crown. Could be wrong.

The camera pictured above has a wooden lens board with sharp corners. Does it not?

venchka,

Your friend may indeed have a Crown View made by Graphic with a square wooden lens board. The Crown View was a wooden field view camera that pre-dates the Graphic View I and II view cameras. He may be calling it a Crown which is "correct" sorta.

maybe a real one would have been a lot more!

Well as you can see it's very much a real one. The small amount of work I've done on it confirms that. No need to be snarky cause I got a good deal. :p

See! I told you changing out the backs wouldn't be difficult.

Yeah! I'm so glad you gave me the idea. It's GREAT with the Fuji PA-45 on there.

I hope the seller was given a fair price. I had an uncle who in his later years took his almost minty Leica III into a camera store and asked them what it was worth. They told him no one wants them anymore and would give him $30 just to take it off his hands. The camera also had a Leitz 50mm lens on it. He figured for $30 he might as well keep it and give it to one of the relatives kids. Good thing he did. I figured out what it was really worth and he sold it to a collector. I'm not suggesting B&H practice this same kind of sleazary.

I don't know what the store bought it for, but our policies are generally fair, and we'll go a long way to satisfy a customer.

It was cheap because A. The shutter needed to be repaired, and B. The back it came with was limiting in terms of accessories. I had the shutter fixed and the back replaced.. The store figured it was more trouble that it's worth to do all of this so I took it off their hands.
