sorry if you all know already, but I have just came across a webpage called http://1x.com
They have a very interesting approach to selection of published (accepted) work - check their FAQ. The work presented is indeed interesting although many shots have a "modern" appeal - but this is the trademark and goal of this webpage.
I would be interested in your opinions ...

I came across this web-page that you mention by a link from K. Rockwell (Yeah, I admit that I visit his website from time to time
) and he mentioned to be one of the 210 selected photographers for the book "210 photographers". Lot's of stuff at 1x looks a little "HDR"-like to me and I am not a big fan of "HDR"-images ....

I managed to get my first submitted image past the screening process. I thought it would have been doomed since it has a very non-modern feel. Visible Grain, not sharper than real life, not of an elderly man in a rural eastern European town.
100% failure rate since.
