Hey, what do you think of your Canon GIII QL-17?

I've only had the Canonet a few months now, but I'm very impressed with it. The optics are very good and the build is solid. I like the quick load mechanism -- it's the easiest camera for loading that I own. Size is quite good and the shutter is nearly silent. This is the cam I would use indoors in a very quiet environment.

I like it so much I just purchased another one on behalf of a friend of mine who is interested in trying out RF photography but doesn't feel comfortable gambling with eBay...

The whole bottom loading experience gives me the frights. That's why my Zorki 2C is 'art' and not a shooter. I can screw things up just fine without first going to all the trouble to trim the leader, take off the lens... and if you have to change film real quick, you are(or at least I am) doomed. I'll stick to hinge backs, thank you. At least it saves me from buying a III...

If only more people felt that way! Just imagine the collection of old Leicas I could buy.... cheap! 😀

Seriously, it's not that difficult and with a little care you could be loading your Zorki-2C like a pro. Trimming the leader is no problem. A pair of sissors is all that's needed. I do it all the time without a hitch.

Give it a try sometime.

I roll my own film. I was shooting for class project on my EOS3. I heard the film hit the end and not rewind....hmmm...me thinks. Maybe I should hit the rewind button on the bottom. Bam, I hear a nice little rewind, very quick though for 36 shots.

Oh well, open the back in bright noon time sunshine here in Fla. Darn tape came lose that was holding it onto the spool. The whole roll was on the other side....🙁

Same thing happened to me. After an afternoon of gorgeous street shots in Chicago, I was surprised to see the frame counter move onto 37, then 38 and then some... Luckily, I was within reach of a camera store, where a technician tried to salvage the film (mostly for the camera's sake). Mission impossible: we had to pull the film out, all the images gone to pot. According to the technician, my roll of T-Max had MORE than 36 exposures and, somehow, managed to get so tightly wound it snapped.

Yep. All the film was in the take-up spool.

Oddly enough, I didn't feel too bad. My choice was either the film or the camera, so...

I have one more reason to return to Chicago next summer! 🙂
