Hello, I would like some options on some thing. I just got a moskva-5 for 75USD from ebay including shipping from Sovipedia. The body seems good and steady and the bellows light tight but their are some problems with it. First the range finder isn't working right (I think both the vertical and horizontal alignment are off) and the adjustment screw striped. Second the front element of the lens has a little bit of damage to it (small scratches and some tiny chips) although it didn't seem to effect the image when I put a piece of ground glass in the back of it. Third the shutter is harder to cock at 1/250th of a second than any other speed. How much of this do you think is fixable or is it worth trying to find another moskva in better shape?

I would really love to get this camera in working order. I don't know if my local shop will touch the thing (I'm going to see them tomorrow) but I'm highly considering sending this to Oleg. My other Idea is buying a small thing of metric measuring tape and just figuring out the distance that way setting the lens accordingly and stopping down a lot.

Is the 1/250 the fastest speed? If so, this is typical of all compur-type shutters and I doubt that the Moskva is an exception.

The lens is the 105mm. I also fuly understand that the 1/250 might be harder to cock by design but I wasn't certan so thank you Nickfed on that.

I think they were all 105mm. There is a Moskva 4 variation with 110mm lens that has a Moskva 5 looking body.

Michael,
I have a Moskva-5 with a 110mm lens.

Raid,

Might be a bit of FSU "re-cycling" as lenses can be switched among the various model Moskva cameras. What number Moment shutter; is it flash synced? The Moskva 5 should have a Moment 24s On advantage of the 110mm should be filter threads; the 105mm has none.

Hi Michael,
The camera has Moment 24 shutter. It focuses correctly, so the guess is that it was mounted on theMoskva-5 body by KMZ factory.
